Nick Legan

Nick Legan is a sports journalist and technical editor for Adventure Cyclist magazine, the official publication of the 43 year-old Adventure Cycling Association. He is a member of the National Sports Media Association and has written for VeloNews, BikeRadar.com, MTBR.com, Roadbikereview.com, Bicycle Times, RIDE magazine, and BBC.com’s Auto page. He is a graduate of Indiana University with honors and degrees in French and journalism.

Legan served a seven-year stint as a professional cycling team mechanic for the RadioShack ProTour team at the Tour de France and the Amgen Tour of California, and for the Garmin-Slipstream, CSC, Toyota-United, Health Net and Ofoto professional cycling teams. He has worked all three of cycling’s Grand Tours and served as head mechanic for the U.S. Cycling Team at the 2008 Olympic Summer Games in Beijing.

Legan started racing at age 13 and has raced road, time trials, track, cyclocross, cross-country mountain biking, dual slalom, 100-mile mountain bike races, 200-mile gravel biking events, 12-hour mountain bike and time trial events, and the Tour Divide. With his wife Kristen, who is Technical Writer at VeloNews, Legal now enjoys bikepacking and cycle touring as well as training and racing gravel biking events around the U.S.
